A spiritual practice is the "It" thing to be a part of these days- partly due to yoga rising in popularity and the other half having to do with soul awakenings from many amazing and talented human beings that most of us know and follow.
My spiritual practice came about when I started my yoga teacher training, but I think, like many of us, we always have a spiritual practice, it's just in the background for most of our life.
Along with this awakening came feelings of insecurity and doubt about if what I was doing was "right" and I contribute this with how we percieve a religious practice and a spiritual practice.
So, I wanted to squash the stigma about spirituality being "woo-woo" (I LOVE IT that way, but certainly doesn't need that!) and interfering with religion.
If you are new to the spiritual world- first off, WELCOME, it's super fun in here! Secondly, you might be asking what actually **** is spirituality?
Spirituality (in a nutshell):
Let me prefernce this by saying this is my definiton on spirituality and I totally recommend researching other's definition too- one might resonante more than the other.
Okay, let's get to it!
Spirituality is a daily practice that brings you back to your center and your Self. Actually, it's more like an every minute of the day thing, but it takes work to be that conscious (heyyyy monkey mind).
You can be religious and still be spiritual, in fact they go hand-in-hand.
Your spiritual practice is any activity or ritual that brings you in sync with the Universal vibration and reminds you that love and grace are all around and guiding your life. It's the set amount of time you give yourself to be totally and completely surrendered to the present moment.
I think that's the whole point some people are missing- it's not THAT serious. It should be effortless and a time that you crave every day. The hardest part of a spiritual practice is the routine.
So, once you get the routine down, the flow will happen naturally.
What my spiritual practice looks like:
My yoga practice kick starts my routine because it is here that I can truly connect to my breath and my body. It's like my assessment of the day.
Meditation and short session of breathing exercises are my connection with the Universe. I pray for guidance and I meditate to recieve it.
When I'm in meditation I feel connected to another world and I'm vulnerable enough to listen to the messages coming through.
I read or listen to an inspirational podcast and write in my journal, and I cleanse my crystals regularly from any crappy energy they could pick up.
My practice changes depending on the day, but I never skip the necessities- yoga, praying, meditating, and writing. This is where my flow happens. This is where my Peace lives.
Alright, does anyone feel their soul yearning to start a soulful routine??
